I have had an absolute gutful. I went to our local parish today to meet up briefly with a friend so my daughter could go with them for the day. She helps them clean house once a month – a paid gig.
I still attend Mass at this parish at times, but more and more I try to get to the Latin Mass, which is 45 minutes away. Anyway, I thought it would be lovely to at least make a visit to the Blessed Sacrament, and then I remembered it would be Mass at noon, which is when we arrived. Normally this would be a delightful prospect, even with the difficulty I have sitting through the new Mass these days.
After all, Jesus is still there, and I want to spend time with him.
If I had been by myself, I would have stayed for the whole Mass, but even before entering the Church, I decided we would only stay for a few minutes to pray. This is because I really don’t want my children to witness the new Mass shenanigans any more if possible. Even when it’s not too bad, it’s actually dire – because it is obvious that
the Mass should never have been changed!
For decades, the liturgical squabbles of the Church have annoyed me, and I will talk about that more another time if I have the chance. Anyway, I just have no more patience for this problem. the thing that was particularly annoying today was that the woman who was reading was wearing a muumuu and flip-flops. I’ve just had it! Yes, it could have been worse (a shorter muumuu, for instance). I don’t really judge the woman and am not actually angry with her, because she probably doesn’t know any better. I’m angry with The Cretins Who Run The Church. As Belloc says:
“the Catholic Church is an institution I am bound to hold divine, but for unbelievers, here is proof of its divinity, that no merely human institution run with such knavish imbecility would have lasted a fortnight.”
Judging by the evidence, I’d have to say that all our prelates are cretins. I can’t detect any exceptions. I don’t care if that sounds harsh and I do believe it’s accurate. I include Benedict, though it pains me. People are free to disagree, but that’s what I think.
I’ve had it with MuumuuChurch. I will just keep “Catholicking On” as best I can.
